States of Matter by Tinybop is an educational application designed to introduce kids to the basic concepts of the states of matter. It is part of a series of award-winning Explorer’s Library apps, which includes The Human Body, Plants, Simple Machines, and more. The application teaches kids foundational science by allowing them to play, experiment, observe, ask questions, make guesses, and find answers. The app is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and includes interactive text labels in over 30 languages to teach vocabulary.
The app allows kids to explore the shape, color, behavior, sounds, and movement of different states of matter. They can discover how changes in temperature affect states of matter by freezing soda, popping popcorn, melting gold, and more. The app also explores phase changes and discovers which changes cannot be reversed. Kids can explore how molecules move at different temperatures and discover which states of matter take the shape of the container they’re in.
